Public Works NSW engaged Iqon to deliver the construction services on this project based on a lump sum contract arrangement. The Queanbeyan Services Centre project was completed in November 2013 and comprises the refurbishment and fitout of approximately 290m2 of building space to create a new customer friendly services centre for Services NSW in Queanbeyan.
The project incorporated the provision of new and safe working spaces for staff while also providing improved service capabilities and self-service hot desks for the Service Centre Clients. The project also required the construction of a new DDA compliant Wet Area and refurbishment of existing Staff Lunch Room.
The works were completed within a vacant part of the building but required however the need to ensure that adjacent Truck Checking Facility remained open and operational at all times. This required careful planning and management of the construction activities and planned power outages to maintain operation of adjacent areas as required.
This project is a significant component in the overall upgrades being carried out by Services NSW to all of its centres across NSW. The project therefore required the regular involvement of key Services NSW stakeholders to ensure the works met their required brief. The works were to be completed within a tight timeframe of six (6) weeks from the date of IQon’s engagement inclusive of planning and construction. The project was completed and building handed over to the client on time and to its satisfaction.
