Molonglo River Park
The Molonglo River Park Stage 1 Holden’s Hill Project
CONTRACT VALUE: $550K
The Molonglo Valley has been identified for the development of a new urban settlement of approximately 55,000 people over a 30 year timeframe. The Molonglo River Reserve will be a central feature, protecting important ecological values, while adding greatly to the amenity of the new residents of Molonglo Valley.
The Molonglo River Park Stage 1 Holden’s Hill Project is the first stage of many to be completed in the Molonglo Valley.
The project has been completed by the ACT Government to provide recreational facilities for the neighbouring suburbs of Wright, Coombs & future suburbs.
This project included the construction and post construction services for the Molonglo River Park Stage 1 Works. The construction works did not follow the ‘typical construction’ project and were a unique blend of civil, building and landscaping works within a very sensitive environment. Significant challenges for the team included collaborative management of the many stakeholders as well as working in a very environmentally sensitive locality. Key features of the project included two (2) lookouts with elevated decks & shade Structures, one (1) 80m elevated board walk, one (1) elevated weir crossing/foot bridge and approximately 1km of walking trail.
Collaborative management of the many stakeholders was a key requirement to ensure all environmental and ecological requirements were appropriately addressed and controlled for duration of the project. This included ensuring the implementation of appropriate controls was in place prior to commencing works in the extremely environmentally sensitive locations.
