CONTRACT VALUE: $0.85M

This project involved the strip-out and refurbishment of an existing 500m2 theatrette facility within the Heritage listed elements of its ACTON facility. The brief was to provide a state of the art Cinema type Theatrette to accommodate 120 people with high performance Audio, Visual and performance lighting capabilities suitable for cinema productions and stage performances.

The design responded to this well and with careful planning and liaison with Heritage we were able to accommodate the 120 person capacity within a curved tiered seating solution.

With all elements within the existing theatrette being heritage listed this provided many challenges for the project team to install additional structure to accommodate the new theatre seating and provide adequate special requirements for new mechanical systems throughout and a small dock type lift platform to allow compliance with all DDA requirements.

The existing building had little as built documentation which meant most of the works required on site surveys to confirm adequacy of the space but also to ensure that no impact to the heritage elements due to the limitations imposed.

The works were completed in a fully operational environment adjacent to the refurbished zone however there were many shared zone elements that required careful planning and coordination with the tenants so that safe ongoing operations could continue.

The project was completed to a high standard of quality and within the agreed program.
